trends for the new season.
We may still be in the depths of winter but here at bod & ted we can’t help but get excited for the arrival of our Spring/Summer collections. From brights to whites; stripes to the orient there’s certainly something for everyone in the coming season. So with that in mind we’ve hand picked a few key Spring/Summer 2013 that no wardrobe should be without.
WHITE OUT:
Graceful, classic and timeless, white has long been a firm fashion favourite for the warmer months but this year it’s the colour of the season! Although a seemingly simple shade, white can be just as bold as brights. Why not introduce some volume like Karl Largerfield at Chanel or experiment with different layers and textures like Givenchy to really embrace this trend.

SHINE ON:
One trend in particular certainly shined on all the runways. Yes metallics are back! For Spring/Summer 13 the metallic trend has been updated with fresh combinations, colours and textures. Fashion weeks around the world showcased a variety of shimmering styles including delicate pastels, metallic brocades and textured metallics. Metallics can easily be incorporated into your spring wardrobe as little or as much as you like. If you’re not ready to be as bold as Burberry Prorsum with their high shine trench coats then why not take inspiration from Zoe Jordan and team your metallics with minimal light pieces to create a chic understated look!

ORIENT EXPRESS:
Opulence was a key trend of Autumn/Winter 12 and it seems that its all aboard the orient express once again for Spring Summer 13. Some of our favourite designers including Prada have continued to take influence from the opulence of the Far East, incorporating origami folds and graphic florals into their collections. Luxurious fabric, embellishment and embroidery will add a touch of glamour to your Spring Summer wardrobe.

LATERAL THINKING:
The stripe is the pattern of the season with designers including Oscar de la Renta, Tommy Hilfiger and Alexander Wang all embracing the trend. Marc Jacobs went a step further and dedicated almost an entire show to the stripe! No two stripes were the same with vertical, horizontal, diagonal, pinstripes and thick stripes all making an appearance on the runways. This classic yet bold trend has long been a favourite of ours for its figure friendly appeal. A horizontal stripe can add curves; a vertical stripe will make you look taller whilst a diagonal stripe can make you appear slimmer. There’s a stripe for everybody! Whether worn head-to-toe or simply on an accessory, stripes are certainly big news this season.
