red carpet round up – the 2015 Grammys and the BAFTAs
It was a red carpet double whammy last night as the US took on the UK in a battle of the best-dressed. Two very different award shows saw two very different looks; the Grammys is definitely the night to take a fashion risk and we love the drama of the gowns here, while the BAFTAs is always a more demure affair. We have rounded up our top 3 from both sides of the Atlantic and here they are!
This is a pretty out there look, but hey you’re Rihanna, you’re at the Grammys and you’re wearing Giambattista Valli Couture. There are not many people that could pull off a look like this, but if anyone can do it it’s Ri-Ri! The paired down make-up, hair and accessories are exactly what this statement gown needed. Rumour has it her dress took up three seats last night! One of the main reasons she’s our number 3 best dressed.
Whilst not generally a massive fan of Mileys style, we think she nailed it last night. Looking incredible in a black cut-out gown from Alexandre Vauthiers Spring 2015 Couture collection, she looked sexy, cool and understated. She managed to look seriously classy in this dress (which shows some serious skin), which we think is definitely down to her sleek pixie cut. Miley gets our #2 spot!
Ariana Grande looked white hot in Versace at this years Grammys. This dress is absolutely stunning with it’s one-shoulder, chain metal sheath and cut-out detailing. We love how she’s accessorised it with white shoes, a super high ponytail and cat-eyes! Gorgeous…our numero uno spot!
Moving over to this side of the pond, Lea Seydoux in Prada takes our #3 spot. Very reminiscent of Michelle Williams in Vera Wang at the 2006 Oscars, we can’t help but fall in love with a canary yellow gown paired with red lips, perfection!
Julianne Moore looks stunning in this 70s inspired tomato-red column gown by Tom Ford. She is killing it this awards season on the red carpet whilst also gaining widespread acclaim for her role in Still Alice. We love how she has kept her hair and make-up simple to let the gown speak for itself.
This was definitely our favourite look from this years BAFTAs, Laura Bailey in voluminous white Emilia Wickstead. Her petite frame meant she could pull off a dress like this, making a statement but without drowning her. Again keeping hair and make-up simple is a must for a dress of this stature and she could not have done it any better. Our #1 of the night, again in white!
