You are the founder of lifestyle blog Lady M Presents – tell us a bit about it?

I’ve been blogging since 2010. It started as a bit of a creative project but I have always loved writing. I focused on fashion after deciding to wear a dress to work every day for 5 days (I work in a male dominated industry). I profiled it and realised I loved writing about fashion. A spontaneous trip to London Fashion Week that year and I was hooked. The aim of the blog has always been to provide a platform for up and coming designers to showcase their work. The blog has evolved over the last five years to be an editorial style online fashion and lifestyle magazine and has presented a lot of great opportunities for me!

What are your tips for aspiring bloggers out there?

Have a plan for your blogging. You need to think about your target reader – who is he or she? What will make them want to read your blog? When you know your audience you know how to evolve your style. I always say stay true to your style and your concept. Focus on great photography and don’t just be in it for the freebies. Blogging is a competitive industry now, you need to build your profile and present yourself as a writer of quality articles that people want to be reading.

What are your key pieces for SS15?

I am all over the Kimono this season. An easy cover up for the beach, for adding something over your shoulders on a warm summer evening. I have a bold Aztec print in red which means that the Kimono can be my statement piece, my pop of colour and I can layer up over simple tee and jeans or a little black dress. Also I am never far from a Breton stripe. I have (eek!) about 15 pieces in my wardrobe featuring it. A classic that works for a girly lunch, a city break or a trip to the coast. Accessories can glam it up but it’s an easy piece to style for summer.

What is your favourite piece from the bod & ted SS15 collections?

I am in love with Nice Things prints this season. They have some great tops like the front print in dark coral that pack a punch in the statement department but aren’t too over the top. Anything from Nice Things has a great fit and it has a relaxed glamour feel. I am also loving this printed jumpsuit I’m wearing. It’s a gorgeous fit, very slimming and for once the length is not too long for me! I love the cape top to it and it has an open back. Perfect for drinks with the girls on a saturday evening or a family bbq on a sunday afternoon. A transitional piece whatever you are up to this summer.

What pieces are already on your wishlist for AW15?

AW/15 seems to be everything I dislike rolled into one sadly.. 80’s revival, velvet, polo necks, red as a key colour. I’m completely a SS kinda girl so I usually carry through my summer style pieces, layering them up for AW. Marc Jacobs sent a sleeker, more polished look down the runway and there are some smart pieces coming out for grown up glam. This season I am looking for an investment coat; a smart yet stylish one to take me from the office to the shows; it will be a belted trench for sure, with structure and probably, knowing me a pop of colour.

What are your wardrobe essentials?

I am all about the capsule wardrobe. For me a great printed shirt for a smart look for the office (I know it should be white but I just think it’s too school uniform). Printed cigarette trousers are my go to for a smart look. A bright pair of heels (I don’t have many black shoes) to make an outfit pop. A Breton stripe ¾ length top, always an essential and a navy blazer, that can work for day time, night time, business, pleasure.

You’re very active…what are your top get fit tips?

Start the week with a class, it will get you set on the right path. I do a spin class on a Monday after work, it’s tough but then I feel so motivated for the week. Also mix up your workouts. I run, spin, dance and do a lot of interval training, HiTT sessions. It means your body doesn’t get used to your workouts. Plus drink a lot of water, I suffer with migraines so staying hydrated is key.

Who is your fashion icon?

Ooh that’s a tough one. I have so many. I love Victoria Beckham’s style and think she always manages to make a statement without having “out there” outfits. But for a classic style icon, it would have to be Audrey Hepburn.

Thanks Rachel!
