Summer Lovin’ – Team Recommendations & Inspirations!
Nobody loves fashion more than we do at Bod & Ted, but every now and then it feels good to discuss all the other important things in life! Here are the Team’s top tips and recommendations and all the things we’ve been loving in the past month…
Firstly, Sophie has been busy researching all things of an interiors nature whilst she completes a building project at home. The final stages of her loft conversion are now (thankfully!) in sight and her attention has turned to the most beautiful tiles for her en suite from Mandarin Stone. With so many incredible designs it hasn’t been an easy decision…Having builders in the house can be stressful at times but Sophie finds cooking relaxing and is enjoying working her way through the recipes from Cook This Book by Molly Baz . Her particular favourite so far is the Coconut Prawns with Crushed Chickpea and Basil. Yum!

The newly released “Elvis” film biopic is highly recommended by Sophie A. ‘The King Lives’ in Baz Luhrmann’s latest movie starring relative newcomer Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as his infamous manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The Elvis story is described as “a rollercoaster of ambition, ego, genius, madness, era-defining highs and bloated, pill-popping lows”. Sophie A‘s favourite read of the past month has been “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus. The story centres on Elizabeth Zott: a one-of-a-kind scientist in 1960’s California whose career takes a detour when she becomes the unlikely star of a beloved tv cookery show. Sophie describes the novel as laugh-out-loud funny and a real page-turner; Elizabeth’s unusual approach to cooking proves revolutionary because as it turns out, she is not just teaching women to cook, she’s daring them to change the status quo.

Lucky Paula has just returned from a wonderful holiday in Crete! Like many of us, this is the first time she has travelled abroad since 2019. She loved the relaxing vibe of their beautiful resort and would highly recommend Acro Suites, Crete. Whilst she was there she read The Paper Palace by Mirander Cowley Heller. The perfect holiday read set in the sunshine of Cape Cod, the story unfolds over 24 hours across fifty years; a love triangle that brilliantly illuminates the tensions between desire and safety, the legacy of tragedy and the crimes and misdemeanours of families.

Rosie is convinced that one day she will get to the Glastonbury Festival but in the meantime, she has been soaking up this year’s incredible performances on BBC iPlayer. It’s so worth a watch to see and hear all the fabulous bands and musicians, young and old, at the World’s most famous and much-missed festival; a complete celebration of music down on ‘the farm’. Also on the subject of must-sees on TV, Rachel has been settling down to “Hustle” with Adam Sandler on Netflix. A film about basketball but don’t let that put you off! She assures us that it’s a great story that keeps you gripped to the end and there is no need to have a passion for the sport to really enjoy it.

Lastly, we love a personal recommendation for all things beauty related, especially make-up and cosmetics! Rosie has recently bought the Diorshow Liquid Eyeliner in Pearly Emerald. A delicate grey-green colour with a very subtle shimmer that is so easy to apply with it’s super-fine brush; worth every penny, it stays put all day long. Rachel loves the Il Makiage “Woke Up Like This” foundation. With it’s advanced, innovative formula she’s finding that it effortlessly enhances her complexion with light-diffusing spheres for that much sought-after glow. Streak-free and light-weight in feel, application is fool-proof in a variety of over fifty shades.
