AUTUMN VIBES & ALL THE COSY FEELS…
With the mild weather we’ve had so far this October, it feels like we’re only just getting into Autumn proper. But while the change in season may herald Summer’s end, this is a time of year that will always hold plenty of charm for us at Bod & Ted. Here are just a few of the reasons why…
Early Autumn temperatures are just right
Not too hot but not too cold, shadows start to lengthen, creating a wonderfully golden mellow light and the sun can even feel quite warm in the middle of the day. This is the best season to take early morning walks, while dew still lingers on the grass and soft mists make a romantic picture of the landscape. Throw on a quilted jacket to keep off the chill.

It’s the season to go foraging for nuts and berries
Woodlands and hedgerows are full of blackberries and hazelnuts, and old fashioned ingredients like damsons, sloes, rose hips and elderberries are also in season. Take a tub or two on country walks and bring things home for culinary adventures. Just remember to leave enough behind for wildlife! Our Commando leggings are so flattering and cannot be beaten for comfort with their signature four-way stretch internal waistband. The faux leather finish means that you can literally wipe them clean; available in black and new for this season, a stunning olive green shade called pine.

Foraged or not, Autumn fruit is now ripe for preserving and baking
The first apple pie or blackberry crumble of the season is always a cause for celebration and the scent of baking around the house perfectly presents the sense of cosiness that we crave at this time of year, particularly on one of October’s drabber days. The season of Harvest Festival brings a host of celebratory food festivals and markets to the Autumn months, a perfect opportunity to seek out seasonal ingredients. Get outdoors in the fresh air but embrace the warmth and comfort of cosy knits and boots. And what better way to end a weekend walk in the countryside than with that great British tradition of a pub roast and a full bodied glass of red?!

Our minds are turning to home comforts
And we’re not feeling the least bit guilty about it! There’s bound to be at least one October day where you think about lighting the fire for the first time, curling up with a mug of hot chocolate and a cashmere throw or lighting a scented candle on a dusky evening. All are simple pleasures that make us happier about the onset of Autumn. New to Bod & Ted this season is lifestyle brand Ortigia; a luxurious range of soaps, scents, creams, candles and lotions formulated using natural products indigenous to Sicily and inspired by the aesthetic, colours and scents of Italy’s most historic and tropical region. Beautifully packaged, these really make the perfect gift for hosts or birthday treats.
Nature is a riot of colour
Which means it’s time to try a little of what the American’s call ‘leaf peeping’. This means observing the rapid changes in Autumn foliage – from yellow to fiery red and earthy brown (the drier the weather the redder the leaves will go). ‘Nature bathing’ in nearby woodland or even at the local park keeps us grounded and in tune with the season which is so good for our mental health. Allow your wardrobe selections to be inspired by all the colour around us and just wait for joy to spark and your spirits to lift.
